Hetalia Day 2009

Hetalia Day is a worldwide Hetalia fan meet-up happening on October 24, 2009. Why the said date? Because October 24 is also United Nations Day. And the next day is World Pasta Day, lol.

I think this is one of the coolest UN Day celebration I’ve ever heard.

We are looking for 12 Teams composed of 1 boy and 1 girl aged 13 years old and above, who are fans of Suzanne Collins’ books or young adult literature in general, and who believe that they have what it takes to win the Games. Read through the mechanics below, and if you feel you are up to the challenge, send in an application!

The Challenges featured in the book will be re-enacted during the activity as a Live Action Role Playing game or LARP, where each participant must dress-up as a character, and must go through the entire activity in character.

General Mechanics:

1. A maximum of 12 teams of participants (called “Tributes”) will participate in the LARP. Each team will be composed of 1 boy and 1 girl (13 years old and above, preferably teen-looking).

2. Garbed in their own interpretation of a “Tribute” costume, the tributes will gather an hour (12:00pm) before the LARP activity starts in the main hallway of SMX (near the registration area), which will be called Station 1, for briefing.
NOTE: There is no need to bring weapons as part of your costume. See the Resources section below for links to fan interpretations of the costumes of Katniss and Peeta. You may base your costumes on these images or you may follow the descriptions in the book.

3. At a given signal, the tributes will proceed with the re-enactment of the First Challenge in The Hunger Games. There will be a total of five Challenges for the LARP.

4. At the end of the LARP, all the participating teams will then gather to receive tokens from Scholastic and NBS.

And then I learned of AFA’09.

I don’t know now. Truth be told, I’m anime otaku > toys otaku. But I have to decide now to plan the trip, and there are no details about AFA’09 yet.
